Provincetown officials are refuting a false claim that the town banned American flags on the Fourth of July.
On Wednesday, a fake social media post claiming the ban caused many residents to call the town hall in anger.
Town Manager Alex Morse then took to Facebook to refute the hoax, calling the claim ridiculous.
Officials say residents and visitors are welcome to celebrate Independence Day with the annual parade and fireworks.
