Fernandes Backs Push For Daily Rail Service From Boston To Cape

Calls are growing louder for the return of commuter rail service between Cape Cod and Boston.

Some state leaders, like State Senator Dylan Fernandes, along with the rest of the Cape Cod delegation are asking the MBTA to run a daily train between Middleborough and Buzzards Bay to help folks head-off high gas prices and avoid likely delays once construction begins on the new Sagamore Bridge.

Governor Healey pointed to the seasonal Cape Cod Flyer as a good rail option between the Cape and Beantown but promised to look into the idea.

It's been more than a half-century since such a daily service existed.
