Massachusetts's rideshare drivers are becoming the first in the nation to unionize.
The newly minted App Drivers Union announced on Monday that it had received state certification.
The union can now being bargaining with the rideshare platforms as it seeks to increase wages and improve job security.
App Drivers Union will represent the roughly 70-thousand drivers working as independent contractors in Massachusetts.
