Barnstable County Assembly Of Delegates ICE Hearing On Wednesday

The Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates will hold a public hearing Wednesday regarding a proposed ordinance to restrict immigration enforcement on county property.

"An Ordinance Ensuring Community Safety and Lawful Federal Immigration Enforcement" would ban ICE from non-public areas like courthouses and it would prohibit county facilities from being used as staging areas for immigration enforcement.

The ordinance would also protect residents' personal information and set transparency reporting requirements around enforcement activity on county property.

Wednesday's in-person hearing is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in the Mary Pat Flynn meeting room at the Barnstable County Complex on Main Street.

There is also a virtual option on Microsoft Teams.
