State Police Mourning Trooper Killed in Route One Crash

The Massachusetts state police is mourning a trooper who was killed in a crash on Route One.

Kevin Trainor, a State Police Trooper with three years on the force, was killed while driving home on Wednesday.

Trainor was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver near the Lynnfield overpass on Route One. He was rushed by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, but was pronounced dead later Wednesday.

The wrong-way driver died at the scene of the accident.

The men and women of the Rhode Island State Police are sending condolences to Massachusetts State Police following the line-of-duty death of one of their troopers.

Rhode Island State Police Colonel Darnell Weaver says Trooper Trainor's heroic sacrifice ensures that he will never be forgotten, but our thoughts are with his family and friends whose hearts are broken by their immense loss.

Flags across Massachusetts are at half staff - and will remain so in honor of the fallen trooper until he is laid to rest.
