Tick Free MV has released a report on deer hotspots on the island.
The thermal drone survey on Martha's Vineyard took place in February and March, finding the highest deer populations in Aquinnah, Chilmark and Chappaquiddick.
According to the survey, the number of deer per-square-mile has reached extremely high levels, impacting ecology, biodiversity and public health.
The survey found multiple hot spots with more than 100 deer per-square-mile.
Tick Free MV initiated the survey since white-tailed deer are the primary reproductive host for ticks, and the Island has some of the highest rates of tick-borne disease and allergy in the country.
