Falmouth Police are alerting area residents and businesses to a fake invoice scam.
The scam involves e-mails that appear to originate from the Town of Falmouth and while they reference a permit application, they are not legitimate.
The town does not request payments via wire transfers and anyone receiving an unexpected e-mail solicitation should be cautious and should not respond.
To verify a communication, contact the Town of Falmouth and ask for the department named in the e-mail.
