Massachusetts lawmakers have passed legislation to designate the Quaker Meeting House Overpass in Sandwich as the Staff Sergeant Raymond G. Tourville Veterans Memorial Overpass.
Fifth Barnstable District Representative Steve Xiarhos says Tourville was a proud U.S. Marine, a son of Sandwich, and a young man who lived a life defined by honor, courage, and commitment.
The bill now awaits the Governor's signature.
Xiarhos says after the measure is signed there will be a formal dedication of the overpass to ensure that Raymond's name, his service, and his sacrifice are never forgotten.
