Steamship Authority To Hold Security Exercise In Oak Bluffs Tomorrow

The Steamship Authority says it will be holding a security exercise in Oak Bluffs tomorrow.

The exercise is scheduled to start at around 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m.

Officials say the event will include a security simulation that will result in a loud boom sound.

Participants have been working with local authorities to alert residents of Oak Bluffs and the surrounding area that the sound is part of the drill and not an actual emergency.

The terminal and the immediate surrounding area will be blocked off for safety reasons during the exercise.

The terminal isn't open for the season so no travel will be affected.
