The Trump administration is now challenging a federal judge's December ruling that lifted a freeze on permitting for all U.S. wind energy projects.
A notice of appeal was filed in federal court in Boston, but a preliminary injunction issued last month is allowing construction on the Vineyard Wind One project and four others to continue while the appeals process plays out.
Vineyard Wind One, which is about 15 miles south of the Islands, is 95 percent complete and is expected to cross the finish line by the end of March, barring any additional setbacks.
