The Town of Yarmouth is warning residents about a scam e-mail.
The e-mail references publicly available information that makes it appear legitimate and recipients may believe it's real.
An example of the message is posted on the Town's website.
Part of the message directs the recipient to reply and pay an application approval fee.
Officials say personal and financial information should never be provided and anyone who receives such an e-mail should contact police.
