Former Barnstable Town Employee Pleads Guilty To Embezzling From Union

A West Yarmouth man has pleaded guilty to federal embezzlement charges for stealing money from a labor union while working for the Town of Barnstable.

Sixty-seven-year-old Kenneth Mattoon admitted to stealing more than 21-thousand-dollars in funds while serving as an officer of the union representing Barnstable Department of Public Works Employees.

Mattoon was working as a foreman in the DPW at the time of the thefts.

He is facing a sentenced of five years and a 250-thousand-dollar fine when he's sentenced on April 15th.
