State Senator Julian Cyr is sponsoring a new bill to end the practice of suspending driver's licenses simply for unpaid fines or fees.
The P-town Democrat's Road to Opportunity Act seems to have a lot of support, and there's a companion bill working through the House.
Backers say licenses shouldn't be taken away from folks for reasons unrelated to dangerous driving.
The measure would also call on the RMV to offer payment options, waivers and reductions to drivers who can't afford to cover their traffic tickets or EZ Pass debt.
