Members of the Cape Cod legislative delegation have updated the Board of Regional Commissioners on issues affecting Barnstable County.
State Senators Julian Cyr and Dylan Fernandes brought commissioners up to date on transportation infrastructure, environmental protection, public health services, and state-County coordination.
The senators say replacing the Cape Cod Canal bridges is the most critical infrastructure project facing the region, stressing the importance of state and federal coordination to keep it on schedule and fully funded.
They also discussed funding to keep the Cape's state-run mental health facility open, actions to safeguard water quality in Cape Cod Bay and investments for climate resilience, ecological restoration, and flood mitigation.
