Cape Cod Moves Toward Coordinated Wildfire Readiness Across All 15 Towns

The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners has approved coordinated wildfire planning across all 15 towns.

The updated wildfire planning initiative is supported by more than 199 thousand dollars in new funding, including 45 thousand dollars from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Harwich

Fire Chief David LeBlanc - Vice President of the Cape and Islands Fire Chiefs Association - says no single town can tackle wildfire risk alone.

He says the coordinated effort brings every town to the same table, with a goal of keeping residents safe.
