Ordnance found at a bay beach in North Eastham has been disposed of without incident.
The device was found Thursday and Eastham Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad to investigate and detonate the device.
According to the Bomb Squad, the device was likely a phosphorus flare that washed in with the tide, and it was not placed on the beach with any ill intent.
Officials say the devices are commonly used in a marine environment for location marking and this is not the first time similar devises have washed up on area beaches.
