The Massachusetts legislature's Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources is scheduled to hold an afternoon hearing on Orleans' Home Rule Petition regarding pesticides.
The petition would allow a local bylaw to take effect that would authorize the reduction of toxic pesticide use in, and on public and private property in the Town of Orleans.
Supporters say the measure is needed to promote a healthy environment and to protect the public from the hazards of pesticides.
Today's hybrid public hearing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
