Cape Cod Visiting Nurses Have Begun Three-Day Strike

Visiting nurses began a three-day strike Wednesday over a contract dispute with Cape Cod Healthcare.

The nurses say their action comes after months of negotiations failed to address wages, recruitment challenges, and chronic turnover rates.

They say the heart of the contract dispute is CCHC's refusal to offer wage increases on par with those negotiated for hospital nurses at Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals.

The hospital nurses are receiving a 19-percent raise over three years.

VNA nurses earn about 20-percent less than hospital nurses and they were offered ten-percent over three years.
