The Massachusetts Data Privacy Act passed by the state Senate includes an amendment by Plymouth and Barnstable State Senator Dylan Fernandes.
The senator's amendment ensures that data is protected during corporate mergers and acquisitions and he's proud it was included in the final bill.
On Thursday, he posted a Facebook message, saying data companies have become the largest and most powerful companies in the world, and too often people are targeted and exploited.
He says the Senate measure offers the strongest data protections in the country, giving consumers stronger rights over how their information is collected, used, and protected.
