Barnstable County is reminding residents to schedule a SHINE counseling appointment ahead of the upcoming Medicare Open Enrollment period.
Under the Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone program, certified volunteer counselors provide free, confidential, and unbiased assistance to help people understand their options.
Counselors can assist with comparing plans and options for prescription drugs along with enrolling in cost-saving programs.
Last year during Open Enrollment, SHINE counselors assisted more than 34-hundred Barnstable County residents.
Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15th until December 7th.
