Nantucket Wastewater Surveillance Finds Above Average Cocaine Levels

Recent testing of Nantucket's wastewater testing has found cocaine levels above the national average.

According to the results of the testing that took place from June through August, the island reported some levels of the drug 50-percent higher than the national percentages.

Officials say the testing also found that the levels of methamphetamine and fentanyl levels are below average.

The testing is conducted so health officials can get a sense of community needs and monitor drug use trends.
