Dennis Asks Residents To Prepare For Effects Of Hurricane Erin

Hurricane Erin is not forecast to make landfall in the U.S., but the storm is expected to impact the Atlantic coast.

Officials in Dennis say deadly rip currents and strong winds are likely and beach and gate closures will be determined on an as-needed basis.

Between now and Thursday evening, residents should prepare for possible power outages and clear or secure objects that might blow around in high winds.

The Harbormaster Department is urging owners of vessels berthed in Dennis waterways to make sure they are secured and that batteries and bilge pumps are in working order.
