Cape Cod is experiencing a significant drought, according to state officials.
The region was just recently upgraded to a Level 2, up slightly from last month.
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs says low rainfall totals and higher prolonged heat have contributed to declining groundwater levels.
Residents are being urged to minimize their water consumption.
