Crews from Falmouth Fire and Rescue battled a file at Cavossa Disposal on Nathan Ellis Highway Monday.
Cardboard caught fire in a large Quonset hut structure and Cavossa employees were using heavy equipment to pull the pile apart when firefighters arrived at the scene.
Due to the lack of fire hydrants near the property, crews set up a water shuttle to avoid shutting down the highway.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
