Nantucket Secures $10M Settlement Over Broken Wind Blade

Nantucket has reached a ten-million-dollar settlement with the manufacturer of a wind turbine blade that shattered into the ocean last year.

The turbine blade made by GE Verona broke apart in July of last year, causing thousands of pounds of materials to wash up on shore.

Nantucket businesses reported drops in revenue during peak tourism season because of the extensive clean-up caused by the failed blade.

Project operator Vineyard Wind is not named in the settlement.
