The Town of Yarmouth is issuing some safety reminders for the Fourth of July and the summer beach season.
Officials say fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts and they're strictly prohibited on all Yarmouth beaches, that fireworks displays should be left to the professionals.
Beachgoers should swim near a lifeguard, be aware of rip currents and supervise children closely.
Anyone who brings items onto the beach should carry them out when they leave to keep things clean for everyone to enjoy.
Finally, the summer sun can be strong, so beach visitors should stay hydrated and use sunscreen.
