The Cape Wildlife Center is thanking Barnstable firefighters for helping to rescue a young raccoon that became stuck in a car.
Someone was bringing an orphaned raccoon to the Cape Wildlife Center, but it escaped from the carrier during the drive and wedged itself under the dashboard of the car.
Wildlife officials knew the car would have to be partially disassembled to reach the raccoon, so they called the Fire Department to lend a hand.
Officials say they were able to pull the raccoon to safety and while the little guy was scared and a little hot, he was happy to enjoy a meal and a cold drink of water.
