Nantucket School Committee To Vote On New Cell Phone Policy Friday

The Nantucket School Committee is expected to vote on a new cell phone policy for students during a special meeting on Friday.

The bell-to-bell restriction for middle and high school students was proposed by Nantucket Public Schools.

The new policy would require students to place their phones and personal electronics in secure, magnetically locked bags during the school day.

There would be exceptions for students with medical conditions or disabilities and devices could also be accesses with approval from administrators.
