The Harwich Select Board is planning to check with outside firms in its search for a new town administrator.
The panel has agreed to interview three different headhunting companies before making any final decisions.
The process could take a few months, so town leaders may have to appoint an acting town administrator to bridge the gap.
They're holding off on that proposal, in addition to a suggestion to form a town-based search committee.
Current Town Administrator Joseph Powers is leaving the post at the end of the month.
