Barnstable County Administrator Michael Dutton has issued a statement regarding the Department of Homeland Security's list of "sanctuary jurisdictions."
Dutton says the county became aware of the designation through news reports on Saturday morning and it has not received any formal notice from DHS.
He also says Barnstable County has not adopted any policy or resolution that would identify it as a sanctuary jurisdiction and all departments work in accordance with applicable laws at every level of government.
Dutton says the county is currently reviewing the matter and officials will share additional information as it becomes available.
