South Kingston Police are trying to keep not only the roads but the community safe this summer.
The are introducing "Safe Summer S-K".
“As we welcome the warm weather and longer days, it’s important to remember that summer can also be one of the most dangerous times of year on our roads,” said Chief Matthew C. Moynihan. “This summer, we’ll be increasing patrols and continuing to share important safety messages that help prevent traffic crashes and save lives.”
The Chief says the campaign will focus on combating impaired driving, distracted driving, and speeding, while also reinforcing the importance of seat belt use.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the months of June, July, and August see the highest number of traffic fatalities nationwide.
“We want everyone, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, to enjoy summer safely,” Chief Moynihan added. “That means staying alert, slowing down, and giving others the space and respect they deserve on the road. Public awareness and shared responsibility are key to reducing avoidable crashes. Let’s work together to make it a safe summer for everyone in South Kingstown.”
Police will update the program on all their social media platforms.
