Dead Alligator Found On Vineyard

Massachusetts Environmental Police are investigating after a dead alligator was found on the Vineyard.

A man walking his dog within the expansive Martha's Vineyard Land Bank property last Saturday made the shocking discovery near a small pond.

The animal was about five feet long, three to five-years-old and MassWildlife says it appears that someone skinned it, leaving only its head and feet intact.

Experts say given the gator's age; it probably didn't live on the Vineyard in the wild and was likely raised for the sole purpose of harvesting its skin.
