USCG Asks For Public Feedback On Proposal To Discontinue Buoys

The United States Coast Guard is inviting the public to give feedback on a proposal to discontinue several buoys in coastal areas.

The move would include four vital buoys located in Chatham as part of a modernization initiative.

Opponents of the removal say discontinuing they buoys will undermine safety for mariners and the public.

The website chatham-ma.gov has posted a link to an interactive map with a detailed legend highlighting the buoys under consideration.

The Coast Guard is accepting comments through June 13th.
