During this week's Town Meeting in Mashpee, residents overwhelmingly favored funding and building a new Police Station, but that's only the first step.
Officials say the new station won't happen without a majority vote during the Town Election on May 10th.
If approved, the new Police Station would be constructed on the site of the existing station which was built in 1978.
Supporters say the new station is needed because the current building does not adequately support the operational needs of the department.
