Weeden Pitches Bridge Toll- Governor Not On Board

Mashpee Select Board Vice Chairman David Weeden says he would support charging tolls for non-residents crossing the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges.

Weeden says the tolls could generate up to 70-million-dollars a year that could be used for coastal and water quality issues.

When asked about the possibility during a State House event on Wednesday, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said she does not support the idea.

The governor spoke about her administration's efforts to replace the bridges saying "that's been something that we've prioritized, to move ahead on. But, no tolls on the bridges."
