Year Off To A Good Start For Local Housing Market

A new report on home sales is out from the Warren Group and it shows that both the number of homes in the state, and the price those homes are getting are both on the rise. The report says the number of sales has increased by more than 9 percent while the median price of those homes has increased by just over six percent.

"Massachusetts saw a total of 2,626 single-family home sales in the first month of the year, marking a 9.3 percent increase from 2024,” said Cassidy Norton, Associate Publisher and Media Relations Director of The Warren Group. “The year began with a record-setting median sale price of $585,000, up 6.4 percent from January 2024.”

The median price in the state is just over 585 thousand dollars.

In Barnstable County sales increased by about 26 percent with the median price up another nine percent to just short of 700 thousand dollars.

Hyannis saw a rather dramatic 220 percent increase in the number of sales.

Median prices saw a 10 percent increase to 550 thousand dollars.
