Costco has issued a recall for its Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion caplets due to potential contamination with foreign materials. The recall, announced on January 2, affects products sold in Midwest and Southeast states between October 30 and November 30, 2024. The affected items bear the item number 1729556 and lot code P140082. Customers are advised to return the product to their local Costco for a full refund.

The recall was initiated by LNK International, Inc., the New York-based manufacturer after a shipment of the medication was accidentally released despite being rejected for contamination concerns. The recall comes amid rising flu cases across the United States, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reporting over 5 million flu cases and 63,000 hospitalizations this season.

Costco has advised against using any remaining product marked with the affected lot code. For more information or to address complaints, customers can contact LNK International at 1-800-426-9391 or via email.

This recall follows a recent recall of more than 10,000 cartons of organic eggs by Costco due to salmonella concerns.
