An executive order from Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey grants state recognition to the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe.

Headquartered in Plymouth, the Tribe of about 200 members has been an autonomous tribal community for centuries, continuously inhabiting lands within the borders of what is now Massachusetts.

The governor's executive order will allow the Tribe to establish government-to-government relationship with the state.
