More Turbine Issues For Off Shore Wind Project

GE Verona and Vineyard Wind say they are removing more defective turbine blades from the Nantucket project, and they are doing so out of an abundance of caution.

According to a statement, the companies will be shoring up and strengthening the turbine blades in order to adhere to safety and operational readiness.

Nantucket officials say that they are deeply concerned about the revelations.

They say the current structure of the blades is simply not reliable.

Town officials are trying to avert another potential disaster when pieces of the turbine blades broke off and fell into the waters creating an environmental hazard for weeks.

Company officials have said that the number of defective blades is in the “low single numbers.”
