Bourne Voters Approve Article For Study At Burying Hill

One of the articles Bourne voters easily greenlit at Monday's town meeting is paving the way for an archaeological study.

The approval of Article 9 will provide 50-grand to the Herring Pond Wampanoag tribe to look into Burying Hill.

The site is thought to contain a number of significant clues about the region's history, not only connected to the tribe, but also to Bourne's founding and the construction of the Cape Cod Canal.

Burying Hill and the surrounding area will be cleared of brush over the winter and part of the money approved will be used for an investigation using ground-penetrating radar.
