The Nantucket Select Board issuing a letter to the community, updating the public on what's next in the broken wind turbine that has created so many issues.
The board members in their letter say that while they are willing to do their part in dealing with climate change- they cannot ignore the financial and environmental failures created by the breakdown of the turbine.
The letter recounts the environmental crisis on the beaches and in the waters as well as the financial issues to business. The immediate need to determine damages from businesses and fishermen.
And they are trying to determine whether something like this could happen again.
For the first time we learn that there have been a series of meetings between the town,
Vineyard and GE Verona since the turbine failure. The letter concludes that there are complex issues that need to be dealt with and they are asking for patience from residents.
