High Risk For Rip Currents In Cape Waters Today

The National Weather Service says there is a high risk for rip currents in the waters off the Cape today.

Dangerous rip currents are expected in Barnstable County and Nantucket through this evening.

Officials say rip currents can easily sweep the best swimmers away from shore and out to deeper water.

The best way to escape a rip current is to relax and swim parallel to the shoreline until you're free of the current.
