Brewster Names Successor To Retiring Fire Chief

It's going to be a smooth transition when the Brewster Fire Department moves from one chief to another this fall.

The town's Select Board voted to give acting Fire Chief Kevin Varley the position permanently when current Chief Robert Moran officially retires October 12th.

Varley has served as Brewster's full-time deputy chief since the position was created eight years ago and has been handling Moran's duties while he's been on medical leave.

Varley will make 180-grand a year, which includes a stipend for him serving as Brewster's emergency manager,
