The State Health Department is closing now 72 ponds and water holes throughout the state- because of high levels of bacteria. It is the most they have closed at any one time since the summer began.
Area beaches and ponds impacted include:
Barnstable -Kalmus Ocean and Keyes Beach (Sea Street)
Chilmark, Ocean @ Squibnocket Beach
Kingston, Gray's Beach
Nahant, Nahant Beach and Black Rock
Plymouth, Nelson Park
Provincetown, Town Landing - West of Coast Guard
Truro, Longnook is closed but state officials have not disclosed a reason.
