Risk Raised For West Nile Virus

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has raised the risk level for the transmission of West Nile virus in five towns on the Cape.

The levels in Falmouth, Mashpee, Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis have increased from low to moderate after the virus was detected in several mosquito samples.

Meanwhile, Cape Cod Mosquito Control says due to the movement of birds carrying viruses like West Nile and Eastern Equine Encephalitis, the Cape will likely be seeing more mosquito samples testing positive in the coming weeks.
