The risk level from Easter Equine Encephalitis is now high in the towns of Carver and Middleboro according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The rare but dangerous mosquito-borne illness has been detected in both towns.
Other communities in the southeastern part of the state were the threat is considered moderate are Bridgewater, Lakeville and Rochester.
The public is advised to take step to avoid mosquito bites.
