Barnstable Looks To Microgrid To Save Money On Electricity

The Town of Barnstable will be developing a new microgrid to lower energy costs for the local High School, Intermediate School and Adult Community Center campus.

The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources is awarding the town 42-million-dollars for the project that could include solar canopies, rooftop solar, HVAC electrification, fleet charging, and battery storage.

In addition to lowering energy expenses, the microgrid will help to improve indoor air quality and strengthen community resilience in emergencies.
