RFP For JBCC Machine Gun Range Issued

There is a new push for a machine gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod.

The Massachusetts Air National Guard is accepting a second round of bids for the project.

EPA has already said that creation of the range would have an adverse effect on drinking water and the environment.

An ad run in by the Cape Cod Times is requesting proposals from contractors that can build the three-lane range.

In addition, classrooms, mess, office space and other amenities are anticipated.

The bids are due August 7.

The project faces a lot of uncertainty. It is a nearly 10-million-dollar project.

But if the construction does not begin by September, the funding will not be extended.

Congressman Bill Keating attached a rider to the funding preventing extensions.
