No Cases Of Triple E Reported- But Cape Risk Remains High

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Cape Cod Mosquito Control have released a mid-summer update on the risk of insect-related viruses.

Officials expect a higher risk of Easter Equine Encephalitis transmission due to multiple samples of mosquitoes testing positive for the virus early in the season.

To date, no mosquitoes collected in Barnstable County have tested positive for "EEE" or West Nile Virus, but mosquitoes in neighboring Plymouth County have tested positive for both.

With that in mind, residents and visitors to Cape Cod should take precautions to avoid exposure to mosquitoes.
