South Shore Nantucket Beaches Back Open After Turbine Incident

Everything is back to normal for south shore beaches in Nantucket.

The beaches were closed as the search for debris caused by damage to offshore wind turbines was detected.

The turbine was damaged over the weekend.

In a statement last night, officials say the “blade failure incident” remains under investigation.

Regulators have yet to speculate on what specifically went wrong.

Nantucket officials say most of the broken turbine material has been recovered and it was safe to resume normal activities on the beach.

There were no reported injuries.
